Cerro del Bolson 5552m

Bolson is a hugely prominent peak on the border of the province of Catamarca with Tucuman, and lying near the Puna de Atacama in Argentina. It is in fact one of the 100 most prominent peaks on earth, rising nearly 3000m above the surrounding terrain. The picture shows the mountain from the drier western side (Catamarca province).

The peak can be climbed from either east or west, although the more nomral route is over 4 or 5 days from the El Tesoro ranch to the west..
